On Tuesday, September 30, University (UHS) girls volleyball played Laguna Hills. UHS won three consecutive games against Laguna Hills, with a final score of 3-0. The team is now 3-2 thus far in the season.
Unfortunately, when the Trojans played Foothill the previous week, two of their starting players, Cali Fuller (Sr.) and Klaire Thoman (Fr.), suffered severe concussions. Because of these concussions, the two players were not able to play in the game against Laguna Hills. However, this did not affect the Trojans; they played with the same intensity.
Madison Daniels (Jr.) was a key factor in the victory. She was able to set ball after ball to the outside hitters throughout the game. Her hands seemed to always meet the ball and set a fluid ball across the court. Christine Bennet (Sr.), the outside hitter, also showed a tremendous amount of strength throughout the game. She seemed to spike every ball across the net, making up for Fuller’s absence.
First year varsity player Anna Wheeler (Sr.) said, “This is the best we’ve done in preseason for a while; I hope the winning continues and takes us all the way to CIF.”
The Trojans have their first season game this Thursday, October 2 against Woodbridge High School.
