On Thursday, October 23, University High School (UHS) girls volleyball lost to Beckman High School (BHS) for the second time this season. The game lasted four matches, and UHS lost 1-3.
In the first two matches, BHS easily defeated UHS. In the third match, UHS put up a good fight and ultimately won. The success of the third match was due to outside hitter Cali Fuller (Sr.) and her countless aces and kills. UHS’s win increased the score to 1-2, leaving a tense fourth game.
Christine Bennet (Sr.) said “The tensions were high going into the fourth game, we all knew what had to be done to get the victory.” Despite its efforts, UHS lost the fourth game, leaving the final score 1-3.
Throughout the game, UHS faced trouble with defense. There were many holes in the back and the Trojans could not keep up with BHS’s strong hitters. Defender Hayley Newcomb (Sr.) said “All the girls in the back, including myself, put all our effort into this game, but we still came up short.
The Trojans will face Corona del Mar High School on October 28 at home.
