Boys varsity soccer has started its training and is ready to begin the season. When asked about the team’s preparation for its first game, Aidan Galassetti (Sr.) said, “The team this year has a lot of technical skill but overall we’re really short height wise, so that might be an issue especially in high school soccer where it’s a lot more brawn over brains. We picked up a couple amazing players this year like Marcos Fernandez (Sr.) after he decided to stop playing for his academy team.”
The team is full of passionate players who are motivated to win their first pre-season game. Fernandez said, “I’m excited to be playing high school soccer instead of playing on the Academy Team for my senior year. Everyone is really proud to be on varsity and it’s a cool feeling to be around. Aidan Galassetti and Tommy Levasseur (Sr.) are going to be big components of our team this season.”
The team’s chemistry and respect for its coach will be essential to its success this season. Levasseur said, “I think the team has real potential this year. I believe that we have a good chance of doing really well in league and hopefully make playoffs.” Levasseur also explained that the coach has really emphasized his desire for the team to play possession soccer, which consists of accurate back-and-forth passes and plays.
The team will play its first game in the Aliso tournament at University High School against Warren High School on December 4.
