One step, two step, three step, four.
Step after step, always wanting more.
Four years later, college grad
Perfect wife and soon to be dad
So when exactly did things get so bad?
Shouting, screaming, neighborhoods burn.
Yell some more, now it’s your turn.
Child upstairs, shrieking cries
Living in the lows, getting high
Conversations end, empty sighs.
…
Wait, I can do better, I promise, I swear
Look left and right– I’ll always be there
Everything I am, you are the source
Ships in the night, I don’t want to change course
But it’s too late; you say, Honey, I want a divorce.
