University High School’s Drama Club has announced the opening of the 2015 Talent Show. As the Theater Arts Department’s largest fundraiser, the Talent Show will fund the productions of both the UHS Fall Play in November, Much Ado About Nothing, and the Spring Musical.
The show will be hosted by the UHS Drama Club and student directed by Drama Club President Christa Pehrson (Sr.) and Vice President Yamini Nambimadom (Sr.).
The show is held annually, and admission is open to the entire student body. Ms. Ranae Bettger (Visual and Performing Arts Dept.) said, “Uni is so saturated in talent and cultural diversity. Many of our students can’t fit arts classes into their schedules or have talents that aren’t showcased in the formal performances put on by the Visual and Performing Arts Department. The Talent Show was created for these students and clubs as a venue for them to share their creativity and culture with the student body.”
While watching the show, audiences can look forward to a vast variety of creative performances, from comedy and dance to poetry and music.
When asked about her involvement in the UHS Talent Show, Angelica Busciglio (Sr.), said, “Attending the Talent Show in the past was an eye-opening experience to familiarize myself with the incredible capabilities of many Uni students. I would recommend anyone to enrich themselves in the arts by attending or auditioning.”
Auditions will be held Monday, September 14 through Wednesday, September 16 after school in the Big Theater. Each audition will take five minutes, and students may sign up on the door of the Little Theater (Room 223).
The Talent Show will be performed on Friday, September 25 and Saturday, September 26 at 7PM in the Big Theater. General admission is $13, but tickets for ASB card holders, senior citizens and children under 10 are $10.
