UHS Varsity Football won at home against Adelanto by a score of 32-0 on Thursday night, September 29. University dominated on defense, holding Adelanto to just 15 yards rushing on 16 carries in the first half.
Running back Alex Pourdanesh (Jr.) scored back-to-back touchdowns late in the second quarter with both 9 and 31 yard touchdown runs for a 15-0 lead. Pourdanesh had 13 carries for 98 yards in the game (OC Varsity).
With a minute left in the third quarter Clark Smith (Sr.) bursted for a 27 yard run and quarterback Thomas Keeling (So.) hit Darrius Outland (Sr.) with a 30 yard touchdown pass for the 22-0 lead.
University scored back-to-back touchdowns as Anthony Medina (Sr.) secured a tipped interception and ran it back to the house for 35 yards for a 29-0 lead.
“I was at the right place at the right time. It’s a great feeling,” Medina said, “It’s not about me. It’s about the team.”
University’s three interceptions and 10 tackles for loss kept Adelanto’s offense stagnant all night long.
This was a great defensive game for us,” said Outland, Division I Fresno State commit.
With the win, UHS remains undefeated going into league with a 5-0 season record.
“I don’t expect anything else,” Pourdanesh said, “We are good enough to beat any team out there.”
The Trojans’ next home game is their league opener on Friday, October 7 against Beckman High School.
