Boys Varsity Soccer beat Woodbridge 3-1, which came after suffering their first loss of the season against Corona del Mar. They currently stand 3-1-0 in league and are 11-1-1 overall in the season.
UHS was led by joint-assist leader Darious Abdollahi (Jr.), who tucked away two goals for his first brace of the season. A third goal was scored by forward Sebastian Hertel (So.), who is currently tied as the team leader in goals scored. Hertel has played a major impact of late, scoring eight times and getting five assists in only six games played.
The Trojans ran a 4-3-3 formation, consisting of a regular backline, three center-mids, two wingers, and a lone striker up front. The formation has served the Trojans well this season, as the forwards have had plenty of chances for goals and assists. The center-mids have staggered, allowing one to roam  forward, another to stay central, and a third to stay back and help in front of the defense.
After a near-perfect run of 11 unbeaten games, the loss against CdM could have been a disruptive turning point  in the season. However, the team responded positively, using the loss as motivation  to play better and with more intensity in the game against the Warriors.
Center-midfielder Lee McEligot (Soph.) said, “The Woodbridge game was a test of character, coming off a difficult loss against CdM. It was an exceptional performance from everyone, and the win was well deserved.”
The Trojans look ahead to a road fixture against Irvine, who are going through a rough season so far, sitting on a 1-8-3 record.
