Girls Golf defeated Irvine High School by a margin of 60 strokes on Tuesday, August 29. This marks their second league win in a row.
“Since this game was against Irvine High School, we were expecting to win,” Co-Captain Kristin Shea (Sr.) said. “This year, we are expecting to win league and move on to play in CIF, but there’s still lots of room for improvement.” The team took first in league last year.
Co-Captain Samantha Cabunag (Sr.) confirmed Shea’s statement. “I think it [this game] was a strong start for our season and I think we’ll keep pushing through strong and finish well in CIF.”
“I think we all played our best but Coco Yang (Sr.) stood out.” Cabunag said. Yang shot the lowest score of the match at 2 under par (score of 34).
“As always, the rest of the season will be fun, but stressful,” Shea said. “As a senior, I’m hoping to make this season a memorable one.”
The team’s next game is scheduled for Tuesday, September 5 against Mission Viejo.
