Boys Water Polo gained a victory after playing against Marina with a score of 12-9 on Tuesday, September 12.
The first quarter began with team captain Joe Nagy (Sr.) scoring the first points for the Trojans. Going on a streak, Nagy scored four points in a row, putting the team in an early lead with the score at 4-1 at the end of the first quarter.
“This time we played more as a team and we were able to get shots off that we didn’t get last time,” Nagy said. “I guess you could say there was a lot more positivity on the bench and that really helped us.”
In the second quarter, the Trojans expanded their lead by going on a 3-1 run. Kyle Mumm (Sr.) scored a fantastic goal, catching the deflection of his own shot one-handed and firing into the net. The second quarter ended 7-2.
“Our defense was much stronger this game,” said head coach Jesse Briggs (Athletic Dep.) “We were really able to press hard and keep the ball from moving.”
In the third and fourth quarter, Marina was able to score seven points, yet they still couldn’t catch up to the Trojans. Matt Wallin (Fr.) scored the last point, ending the game with the score of 12-9.
The Trojans are set to play Northwood away next week on Wednesday, September 20.
