I gaze into my smooth mug
And study the creamy hot chocolate,
Still swirling around from the spoon that stirred it seconds ago.
The marshmallows slowly deflating
Put images in my mind of a white snowball,
Perfectly round,
Melting in a child’s mittened hand
As it is flattened down,
Ready to deflate onto a child’s white windbreaker.
