Earlier in the week, University’s Boys Varsity Tennis team matched up with Beckman and Corona Del Mar, winning both matches. From Wednesday to Friday, University’s Boys Varsity Tennis team participated in PCL’s individual tournament.
Over the couple of days in the tournament, there were over 40 matches between Varsity and Junior Varsity. University has always been able to end each match with a victory for the last ten years. Going into the tournament, Senior Julian Lafond shares how he felt before playing. “P”, said Julian Lafond.
Doubles team partners Nic Conta and Chris Chae pulled off wins in their matches. The both won JV doubles 6-3 and 6-1 against another team from University. Chris Chae comments about his win with aConta. “P”, said Chris Chae.
Seniors Patryk Kozlowski and Julian Lafond won four matches to win the entire tournament. The two have been extremely successful throughout the season, completely dominating almost every match.
In the semifinals, Kozlowski and Lafond won 6-3 and 6-4 against a team from Corona Del Mar. In their last match in the finals, Kozlowski and Lafond matched up against a team from Woodbridge, winning 8-6. Kozlowski comments about winning the entire tournament with Lafond. ‘P’ said Kozlowski.
Senior Captain Leo Krapp shares his appreciation and gratitude, regarding University’s triumph in the tournament. “We are very happy to have a lot of success in the PCL individual tournament, with University’s doubles team winning the whole thing”, said Krapp.
