What’s Up?: a poem

BY CELINE NGUYEN

Little drops of water and dust

Only a hundredth of a millimeter.

These lumpy congregations of ice crystals,

they are sun blockers,

the home of airplanes.

These floating masses of gray and white

are the soft, fluffy beds of birds,

cotton candy of epic proportions,

and giant scoops of vanilla ice cream.

They are the harbingers of hail, snow, rain, cats and dogs.

The shapeshifters of the sky

embrace skydivers and skyscrapers with a misty hug.

Up there,

really high up,

are clouds.
