Cynical Cinderella: a poem

Staff Writer

The magic wears off

At 12 o’clock AM,

I don’t want to leave,

But I’ll meet him in my dreams again.

In the morning, he’ll forget it all,

And to me it’ll be a cherished memory,

But there’s no fairy godmother,

No glass slipper to tell the story.

He’s known as Prince Charming,

Not Prince Who Can Commit,

If he isn’t searching for the one

Who cares if the shoe fits?

Goodbye fairy tales,

Adieu happy endings,

Farewell to all your lies,

How’s that for an ending?
