On April 24 at Northwood High School, all levels of University High School’s (UHS) boys and girls swimming teams defeated the Northwood Timberwolves. Boys Varsity finished with a score of 126-44 while Girls Varsity finished with a score of 115-55.
Boys Varsity won 10 of their 11 events, placing first and second in the 50 Free, the 200 Free, 500 Free and the 200 Medley, and sweeping the top three spots in the 100 Free, 100 Back and 200 IM. Corey Okubo (Sr.) won both the 100 Fly and the 200 IM with a county-leading time of 1:49.90. Will Hofstadter (Jr.) also won both of his events, placing first in the 50 Free and out touching Sam Lee (Sr.) by one one-hundredth of a second in the 100 Free to finish with a time of 47.92.
Girls Varsity won 10 out of 11 events, placing first and second in the 200 Medley Relay and sweeping the 50 Free, 100 back and 200 IM. Megan Sirijariyavat (Sr.) won the 50 Free and 100 Free. Celine Nie (Fr.) won the 200 IM with a personal season-best of 2:13.07, which qualifies her for California Interscholastic Federation competition.
The teams’ final final Pacific Coast League dual meet was at Irvine High School on Wednesday, April 30. Update to come shortly.
