Boys water polo falls to CDM 4-10

On Thursday, October 9 boys water polo played its second league game against Corona Del Mar High School (CDM), ultimately losing 4-10.
University High School’s (UHS) goalkeeper Matt Moran (So.) made many blocks throughout the entire game while CDM continuously fired at him. In the first quarter CDM scored 3 goals but Daniel Campanaro (So.) fired back and ended the quarter with a score of 1-3 with CDM in the lead.
CDM scored 1 more goal in the second quarter. The score was 1-4 at half time with CDM in the lead. In the third quarter CDM put three more goals in and Andy Rasla (Sr.) answered with a goal of his own. The third quarter ended with a score of 7-2. In the fourth, Kian Matin (Sr.) scored two goals of his own but CDM put in three more. The game ended with a final score of 4-10 with CDM taking the victory.
Overall, UHS played its best and the team is happy with its performance. Coach Andy Coffman (Athletics Dept.) told the UHS players, “Everyone else expected us to do a lot worse so I’m really proud of you guys”.
UHS hopes to get its first league win in its Game of the Week against Northwood High School on Tuesday, October 14.
