Leaving Home: a poem

Age 18, graduated high school
The days are over, when I was a fool
Off to college with an excitement
Feeling scared to make another movement.
Moving into a dorm with new mates
Being independent, I cannot wait
Out in the society all by myself
Where people fight for themselves
A society filled with corrupt systems
No parents will be there to guide me
Alone in the world with people I cannot agree
Because leaving home is not a task that’s easy
All the memories makes me feel uneasy.
The things I did, since very young
All the photos that I was among
The time I’ve spent in this place
Every second I want to brace
Now it is time to open a new chapter
Of my life, leaving the past chapters
Moving on with life on my own
With the skills I have grown
