Varsity Girls Water Polo won 10-4 against Garden Grove High School on December 13. UHS took an early lead and played well throughout the entire game.
“Our team defense was really good,” Coach Bahram Hojreh (Athletics Dept.) said. “We made some very small mistakes but we played well overall.”
The team competed in a tournament over the weekend, which has helped them with their teamwork and communication. “I think we did well. I think this is one of the first games that we started getting together as a team,” Co-captain Gauvri Nathwani (Sr.) said.
The team aims to improve on their conditioning as they get closer to league. One of their goals is to qualify for CIF playoffs by placing top three in league. “I feel like we’re playing better but we still have a ways to go,” Co-Captain Chandlyr Denaro (Sr.) said. “We really hope to beat Northwood and Woodbridge this year”
“It was a team effort.” Coach Hojreh said. “The girls play with Uni pride.”
Varsity Girls Water Polo will play against Beckman High School in their first league game on January 5.
