Girls Varsity Basketball beat Irvine by a final score of 45-31. This win puts University first in PCL with the potential to have a good seating in the CIF playoff bracket, ahead of Irvine.
Throughout the game, the Trojans were able to play from ahead with a comfortable lead. At the end of the first quarter, the score was close with UHS leading the Vaqueros 11-7.With key shots from Senior Captain Kaci Blailock (Sr.), the Trojans were able to take control of the game.
At the end of the half, the Vaqueros trailed 24-10. The Lady Trojans would then cruise through the second half keeping Irvine at only 21 points. When the final buzzer went off, the Trojans beat the first place Vaqueros 45-31.
With 17 points, Blailock kept University on top throughout the game. “It was an all and all team effort and I wouldn’t have been open to make the shots I did if not for the great passes I got, ” Blailock said.
Another key offensive player was forward Ashley Chandler (Jr.). Chandler was able to rack up 13 points, which also included a three point field goal.
On Thursday, the Trojans will tip off against Beckman away at the Patriots’ gym. The Patriots are currently 3-2 in league and the game is expected to be an easy victory for University.
