Trojan Football played Katella High at their away game this past Thursday, resulting in a 50-0 loss. This pushed the UHS record to 0-4 thus far into the season. Despite the score, the Trojans were still able to perform well, even up until the very last seconds of the game.
Such was the case for Junior Brian Bush, who, as linebacker, managed to get 5 tackles and then switched sides of the ball to play QB and passed 10 for 16 with 135 yards for a passer rating of 89.3 for the night.
“The coaches needed me to play a little on both sides of the ball and I did it. I just want to give my team the best possible chance to win the game and we weren’t successful this time, but were lucky to be given a next time to play” said Bush.
Another highlight of the night was UHS’ three headed attack at running back, which included senior Busher Alashor and Senior L’marion Richardson. Both were able to obtain yards per rush, despite Katella’s strong offense. Senior Skyler Pouper also made a great ten-yard sideline catch, proving him a strong asset for the Trojans offense/defense.
“It was a tough game but still we gotta keep fighting throughout all 60 minutes of the game and were lucky that there is another game next week that we can play and go again to try and win.” said Pouper
The offensive line managed to keep Bush upright for his passing game while also creating holes for the running game. They have improved every game this season and will for sure be a huge key to winning when it comes time to win big in league and CIF. The defensive line also managed to hold its own during the game, with Senior Brian Choobin standing out and holding his own.
“ I give 100% every game and I love playing it, I am ready for league and I’ve been ready to start winning, I’m excited for what’s ahead of us” said Choobin.
