On October 16, University High School (UHS) played Irvine High School (IHS), winning all three games with a final score of 3-0.
Cali Fuller (Sr.)In the first match, the score flipped back and forth between the two teams. Finally, UHS was able to find a hole in IHS’s defense to secure the first win of the game. In the second match, UHS was able to maintain the momentum and locked a match win of 25-14. Due to key outside hitter
, the Trojans were able to easily beat the Vaqueros in the last match. This resulted in the Trojans defeating the Vaqueros 3-0.

had a key role in defending against Irvine. She seemed to be under every ball throughout the game, and always bumped the balls to the setter with accuracy.
On Tuesday, October 14, the University High School (UHS) girls volleyball team competed against Northwood High School (NHS). After three hard fought matches, the Trojans lost with a final score of 0-3.
Jaylee Morse (So.)UHS was defeated in the first match 15-25. However, the Trojans regained their momentum in the second match. The team played out several rallies, and the Trojans were able to gain a few more points. Despite the team’s hard work, UHS was still defeated 20-25. Middle player
played impressively in the third set, blocking three shots, but the Trojans were unable to come through and fell to NHS 18-25.
Christine Bennet (Sr.)After defeating IHS, the Trojans are one step closer to making it to California Interscholastic Federation (CIF).
said, “It would be a real gift if we could make it to CIF for our senior year.”
The team currently holds a 7-8 overall season record and is 1-4 in league. The Trojans initially had a strong start in season with several wins, but their successes in league have come more slowly.
Girls volleyball’s next game is a Game of the Week against Woodbridge High School on Tuesday, October 21.
