The Sword & Shield’s female athlete of November is Yuki Asami (Sr.), who has been playing Varsity tennis all four years of high school.
When asked what made her fall in love with the sport, Asami said, “I fell in love with tennis because of its competition. I love the challenge of playing someone who is better than me and knowing that I can always improve in one way or another.”
Asami received a full tennis scholarship from the University of the Pacific and plans to play college tennis for the next four years.
When asked about her goals for the season, Asami said, “My goal is for our team to win CIF and also to win CIF individuals with my doubles partner, Celine Gruaz (Sr.).”
Asami is very motivated and is a role model to members on the tennis team. In her free time she enjoys listening to music and hanging out with friends.
Asami said, “I’d like to give a shout out to Arash Hafezi (Sr.), Riku Hashiyada (Sr.), and Tommy Wang (Jr.) for practicing with our girls and for always supporting us during our games!”
Girls tennis begins CIF (California Interscholastic Federation) play on Wednesday, November 5.
