On February 10, the UHS boys basketball team traveled to Northwood High School (NHS) to face the Timberwolves. After a hard fought game, the Trojans fell to the Timberwolves 57-74.
The game began with a relatively low scoring start, with the Timberwolves leading 8-5 with 3:40 left in the first quarter. NHS finished off the final 3 minutes with a 14-5 run. The Timberwolves led 22-10 at the end of the first period. Kiron Dey (Jr.) helped bring the Trojans back into the game in the second quarter, scoring 16 of UHS’s 26 points in the quarter. The Trojans regained their momentum and brought the game back to a four point deficit in the second quarter, but were unable to sustain the comeback, and trailed 29-39 at halftime.
The second half began with the two teams trading baskets. The Trojans and Timberwolves were neck to neck, but the Trojans still trailed 40-51 at the end of the third quarter. The Trojans came up short in the final quarter, ultimately falling to NHS 57-74.
Jake Terpening (Sr.) said, “We were a lot tougher on the defensive rebounds and didn’t let them get easy putback buckets like they did last time.”
The loss brings the Trojans to 1-8 in league play. Their last game of the season is on Thursday, February 12 against Irvine High School.
